Pushkar is located near some of India's oldest geological features. Microliths at Khera and Kaderi indicate that the area was inhabited in antiquity. The nearby Aravalli hills have produced Mohenjo-Daro-style artefacts, although the relationship is uncertain because these things could have been transferred later. Sites nearby have yielded ancient Brahmi script writings, thought to be pre-Ashokan near village Bacilli (badli). Nearby excavations have yielded red ware and decorated grey ware, indicating an early settlement.
Pushkar is referenced in the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Puranas, indicating its historical and theological significance in Hinduism. Much literature from the first millennium mentions the city. These passages, however, are not historical. The earliest historical documents referring to Pushkar and Ajmer can be found in Islamic manuscripts documenting attacks and conquests of the Indian subcontinent's northwestern areas.
The region is mentioned in Mohammad Ghori's conquering records from 1192 CE, in the fall of Prithviraj Chauhan. Pushkar and adjacent Ajmer are mentioned in historical documents about Qutub-ud-din Aibak. It was retaken by Hindus underneath the Chahamanas in Ranastambhapura in about 1287, but it was retaken either by Delhi Sultanate around 1301 & remained under Muslim authority for decades. Akbar established Ajmer as a province capital, and it continued as a component of a Mughal Empire until 1712 CE. The Muslim dominion brought both destruction and cultural effects. The Hindu temples near the lake were demolished by Aurangzeb's army. The livestock and camel trading history attracted Afghan merchants. Following the fall of the Mughal Empire following Aurangzeb, Hindus reclaimed Pushkar.

five-star experience with service
Oct 11, 2022
I had a five-star experience with your service. Our aircraft was two hours late, so we landed at Udaipur Airport at 2 a.m. I contacted the help address and received an immediate response stating that the operator could update my driver. The driver was waiting for me when we arrived in the arrivals hall. Everyone with whom I communicated was polite and cheery.
